On successful completion of the course students will be able to:

2. Identify syntactic units such as heads, complements, adjuncts, and arguments;

Course Content (Syllabus)
This course is an introduction to sentence structure. It looks into the largely unconscious rules that determine how speakers of a language combine words into larger units such as phrases and sentences, and how they structurally represent what they hear or read. Examples will be drawn mainly for English but we will also use data from other languages as well as developmental (first and second language acquisition data).
