Learning Outcomes
Students develop skills in critically reading and evaluating published research in experimental linguistics. During the course students are familiarized with research methodology, while the course also includes work on statistics. By the end of the course, students will have developed the skills necessary to design and implement research in the field of applied linguistics.
Course Content (Syllabus)
The course aims to train students in a range of practical research skills related to the conduct of self-directed research in linguistics, from reading literature critically to identifying sources of evidence,designing experiments and presenting empirical results. During the course we discuss topics such academic writing, data collection, quantitative and qualitative research, while some basic training in statistics will also be provided.
