Learning Outcomes
The student will be able to identify, describe and distinguish/classify ostracods and siliceous microfossils (diatoms, radiolarians, siliciclastics) and be able to use them in Mesozoic-Cenozoic biostratigraphy, petroleum exploration, and biogeography.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Study of ostracods and silicate microfossils (diatoms, actinozoa, siliciclastigraphs). Historical review, biology-life cycle; morphology; stratigraphic distribution; systematic classification; Mesozoic-Cenozoic biostratigraphy and petroleum research; biogeography; sample preparation methodology; optical microscopy, electron microscopy.
