Learning Outcomes
Students who attend the course are expected to
• undertand the basic features of the Roman Archaeology and art and become aware of the relevant bibliography
• study the basic caterogiers of art in Roman Greece
• comprehend Romanisation in the archaeology and the art of the greek region
• to become sensitive to methodological and practical issues related to their field of study
• practice their skills to present orally and in written their essays and to comment relevant articles and stydies

Course Content (Syllabus)
Roman period
The Roman Period refers to the archaeological remains and the Art as well during a large period of time ranging from the 1st c. A.D. to the late Antiquity. Emphasis will be given to the examination of the archaeological remains and the various categories of Art in the Greek region during Roman Era and mainly at the height of the Roman Empire. It will be discussed also the complicated issue of “Romanization”, which is highly interesting, in order to examine to what extent and in which way the tradition can be combined with the new elements adopted gradually from the West. The ultimate goal is to be provided by this course specialized knowledge on Roman Archaeology and Culture.

Student Assessment
Description
Students will have to study weekly specific book chapters and articles (in Greek or another foreing language) and present orally brief reports of their critical reading. They will also have to study specific bibliography relevant to a topic given to them and compose a written essay on that. Students' evaluation will depend on the written essay they will compose and on their weekly presentations, their ability to argue and to answer questions based on bibliography.
