Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will · Have gained basic knowledge of the main currents, schools, tendencies as well as of stylistic characteristics of the modern French poetry. · Have the ability to distinguish the morphological and stylistic differences between poetic currents · be familiar to the basic concepts of poetics as well as of analysis techniques of poetic texts · have reinforced their ability to research, analyze and interpret modern poetry

Course Content (Syllabus)
This course will focus on the main poetic currents of 19th century in France (romanticism, parnassism, symbolism). Specifically, emphasis will be given to modern elements - stylistic, morphological and thematic - which contributed to the aesthetic change and the creation of a different poetic word in the second half of the19th and the beginning of the 20th century. Furthermore, 20th century poetic production and the new tendencies that form evolution of poetic writing will also be covered. The study is based on theoretical and poetic texts. Evaluation will be based on participation, a project as well as a final oral examination.
