Course Content (Syllabus)
This course aims to initiate students to the basic concepts and practices of terminology management. To this end, students are involved in a concrete terminology project in specific domain and language pair. Through this experience they get familiar to the different stages of terminology work from term extraction to term validation. 1st session General Principles of Terminology Management: historical overview, actual needs 2nd session Corpora and Terminology Management 3rd session Corpus Management Tools: practice 4th session Term Extraction: tools, candidate terms, validation 5th session Terminology Management Tools: open access, collaborative, Mutliterm 6th session Specialists in Terminology validation 7th session Evaluating the resources 8th session Final project: preparation I 9th session Final project: preparation II 10th session Final project: preparation III 11th session Final project presentation I 12th session Final project presentation II 13th session Final project presentation III

Description
Both courses and the exams take place in a computer laboratory, where students get trained in term mining by using electronic corpora, term extractors, and CAT tools. The course material is published on e-learning. Students can communicate with the instructor either by e-mail or via the platform of e-learning.

Student Assessment
Description
The assessment for this course consists of continuous evaluation with at least two assignments during the semester (weight: 40%), participation in classwork (weight: 20%) and a final exam (weight: 40%). The assessment procedure is presented in the course description on e-learning, described in outline in the courses guide, and explained to the students.
