A good knowledge of microeconomic theory.
Learning Outcomes
After the end of the semester, the student should clearly understand and be able to analyze using microeconomic models: • Price discrimation strategies (1st,2nd,3rd degree), discrimination is space and their applications • Equilibrium in models with multiple goods, with uncertainty and insurance markets • The concepts of risk and insurance, pricing of insurance products • The concepts of moral hazard and adverse selection • Pricing in input markets • Auction as an allocation mechanism, auction strategies Also the student will familiarize with using the computation software Mathematica/Maxima (syntax, solving optimization problems, solving systems of equations)

Course Content (Syllabus)
We will address price discrimination as a business tool to increase profits and the effects of discrimination on consumers and social welfare. In this context, price discrimination in space will also be considered (spatial monopoly and monopsony). We will present the theory of a rational individual's choice under uncertainty, expected utility maximization, aversion, neutrality, and risk aversion. Application of this theory in explaining and dealing with the phenomenon of tax evasion. Then we will deal with the economics of information, the value of information, basic concepts such as moral hazard and adverse selection in insurance markets, the principal-agent model. Last, we will present the theory of auctions.
