Learning Outcomes
Students in this course will be able to
- understand the theoretical axes of plurilingualism and plurilingual education
- to address the particularities of methodological approaches in the field of plurilingual education and pluralistic approaches of the Council of Europe
- link theory to practice through the production of plural activities
- become familiar with the development of teaching modules in line with the pluralistic approaches and the Council of Europe's Framework of Reference for pluralistic approaches
- put in place adequate tools to develop and analyze plurilingual communicative repertoire and plurilingual competence.
Course Content (Syllabus)
The class aims at the theoretical and practical approach of basic sociolinguistic concepts:
- Unilingualism – Plurilingualism/Pluriculturalism
- Typology of plurilingual and pluricultural situations
- Language contact phenomena
- Sociolinguistics aspects of immigration
- Pluralistic Approaches and Framework of Reference for Pluralistic Approaches (FREPA) of the Council of Europe
- Plurilingual communicative repertoire and plurilingual communicative competence
- Language representations of plurilingualism
- French as a second language
