Course Content (Syllabus)
This course explores the genealogy of Historicism, which is one of the most powerful, and tenacious, schools of critical thought. We proceed from Naturalism to Historical Materialism to New Historicism and Cultural Mobility. At a later stage in the semester, we apply these critical tools to fascinating recent European novels, such as Jaume Cabré's Confiteor.
