Learning Outcomes
After the successful completion of this course, students should be able: 1) to identify the different genres of journalist texts (editorial, interview, column, investigation, etc.) and recognize linguistic and functional characteristics of journalistic texts; 2) to translate a small journalistic text; 3) to find appropriate resources for documentation.
Course Content (Syllabus)
The object of this course in news translation, both from a theoretical and practical point of view. Working languages are French and Greek. Some key issues investigated during this course are journalistic discourse and its characteristics, news dissemination and news production in global communication environment, translation studies and news, ideology in news translation. Moreover, students will have the opportunity to practice in translation per se, with the use of authentic texts.
