After the successful completion of the module students will be able to: * apply current interdisciplinary theories focusing on gender to dramatic texts and performances *understand and evaluate different aspects of gender identity in contemporary society and how these connect to the theatre *understand and evaluate the variety of contemporary artistic practice in relation to gender

Course Content (Syllabus)
The module focuses on the ways in which gender identity is performed and reproduced in contemporary world theatre. We will study dramatic texts and performances focusing on gender and sexuality, the deconstruction of the dramatic canon, precarious masculinity through the lens of feminist and queer theory. Examples studied include Travis Alabanza, Katie Mitchell and Έλλη Παπακωνσταντίνου among others.
