Course Content (Syllabus)
In the Direction Workshop IV, we emphasize the use of stationary blocking and its function in a dialogue scene. Starting from the rules of composition we examine blocking patterns (shapes) with a certain number of subjects. We explore ways of constructing narrative focus and the depth of story information. We study the function of unrestricted narration, restricted narration, the function of the narrator, the subjective shot, the perspective of sound, perceptual subjectivity and mental subjectivity. We examine how perceptual subjectivity within a scene (POV) is shaped and ways of creating levels of identification.

Student Assessment
Description
The assessment takes into account both the assignments done during the workshop and the assessment handed in at the examination. During the workshop a series of assignments are carried out and these are counted at a rate of 50%. One of these is a pitch of the assignment to be delivered in the examination and is presented orally by the team in the classroom. A short film of up to 10 minutes in MP4 format (counted at 50%) is delivered at the exam. A critical evaluation text of the film is also handed in which emphasis is placed on identifying the reasons that led to results that were outside the intentions of the filmmakers. The assignment is individual or group work 2-5 people and counts 50% towards the final assessment.
