After the successful completion of this course, the students will be able to: • understand the basic concepts related to the Typology of Dictionaries and Grammar • analyze issues concerning argument structure construction (valency construction) with respect to a particular verbal lexical unit • apply knowledge in practice • be able to apply and use the relevant linguistic terminology for the purpose of dictionary research

Description
This course is designed to deepen and strengthen the knowledge of the typology of German dictionaries and Grammar (Grammar is meaningful). The course addresses and analyzes issues concerning argument structure construction (valency construction) with respect to a particular verbal lexical unit. In addition, the main focus is on the description and analysis of different types and sorts of dictionaries (valence dictionaries vs. learner dictionaries), including electronic dictionaries and text corpora (DeReKo, Sketch Engine, DWDS u.a.).
