2. understand the teqniques underlying the cultivation of small fruits, citrus and tropical fruits.
Course Content (Syllabus)
Μorpholofical and botanical traits of strawberry. Propagation of strawberries. Systems of strawberry planting. Out-of-season strawberry production. Hydroponic strawberry yield. Strawberry cultivars. Strawberry pollination, fertilization, fruit set, fruit growth and development. Strawberry fruit ripening, maturity criteria, harvest and storage. The cultivation of blackberry, raspberry and blueberry. Other fruits (gooseberries, cranberries, hippophaes). Nutritional value of small fruits. The cultivation of Citrus. The cultivation of tropical fruits. Postharvest physiology of citrus and tropical fruits.
