Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to describe and critically approach: i) describe the fundamentals of human development, ii) describe and critically approach key theoretical theories of human development, iii) describe and critically approach the contribution of heredity and environment on human development, as well as its biocultural foundations iv) describe and critically approach research methods in Developmental Psychology, v) describe development in the prenatal period, as well as the physical, cognitive, language, social and emotional development in infancy, toddlerhood, and early childhood, vi) critically approach findings and theoretical suggestions regarding development in the aforementioned periods vii) describe and critically approach links between early experiences and later development.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Key issues in the study of human development. Historical and contemporary perspectives on human development. Research methods in the study of human development. Ethics in developmental research. Biocultural foundations. Heredity and environment. Prenatal development and childbirth. Biocultural foundations of human development. Infancy: the first three months, physical, cognitive, language development, social and emotional development. Early childhood: physical, cognitive, language, social and emotional development. Contexts of development.
