The purpose of the course is the understanding and the acquaintance of parctical skills on basic concepts of Data Bases, so that the studenst are capable of using database tools for a variety of fields and applications that will follow in the coming semesters (such as Cadastre, Geographic Information Systems, Cartography and much more)

Introduction, History, Data Base Management Systems, Data Models, Data Description and Manipulation Languages, Spatial Databases, Object-oriented Data Bases, Distributed Data Bases, Knowledge Data Bases, Data Transfer Standards, Metadata, Data Bases and Geographical Information Systems.
