Learning Outcomes
Understanding the characteristics of the system concerning pedestrians and vehicular traffic in the urban environment. Understanding the interrelation of the land-use / transport systems. Learning the content and methodology of traffic and parking management study. Learning the organization and implementation of measurements and surveys on transport projects and services. Understanding the operation of networks and systems for the exploitation of urban mass transportation systems. Learning the design, implementation and evaluation of measures and policies for the rational planning of transport infrastructure and mass transportation systems in the urban environment. Understanding the provisions of Highway Code for pedestrians, bicyclists, vehicles, parking and signing.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Elements of urban highway engineering. Traffic calming measures. Design of infrastructure dedicated to Public Transport. Pedestrianization. Traffic management in high-density built-up areas. Techniques of parking management and control. Case studies. Infrastructure, rolling stock and urban mass transport system operation. Legislative, organizational and financing framework of urban mass transport system in Greece and in Europe. Design of networks and systems of urban mass transport system operation. Measurements and computations of operational elements of urban mass transportation and connection with the users of the suburban mass transportation system.
