Learning Outcomes
After the successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. understand the difference between Primary Health Care, Secondary and Tertiary Care. 2. understand health determinants and methods of assessing patients’ health needs. 3. understand the importance of vaccination giving emphasis in influenza vaccination. 4. practice simulated scenarios on basic principles of medical history taking and clinical examination. 5. learn and practice in a simulated environment basic practical skills such as venipuncture, urinary bladder catheterization, wound care and suturing. 6. implement what they learned in simulation at the Clinical Skills Centre in Health Care Units.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Care Levels (Primary Health Care, Secondary and Tertiary Care), Levels of prevention, Vaccines for Healthcare Workers - "Flu" Vaccine. Medical history taking and writing (with emphasis on present disease investigation) through selected scenarios. Communication with people with disabilities. Introduction to clinical examination. Intimate examination (e.g. digital rectal examination). Technical skills: Venipuncture (fluid administration, blood sampling), Male and female urinary bladder catheterization, Wound dressing and suturing.

Description
Study of educational material via elearning. Discussion forums on selected clinical cases. Communication between students and co-ordinators using a closed group on social media (facebook). Written test via elearning quiz.

Student Assessment
Description
Students’ formative assessment is based on their written assays which they write after visiting the hospital emergency room andunits or the primary healthcare facilities. Students’ summative assessment is based on a written test (multiple choice and short answer questions) and an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). The mini-OSCE consists of a series of stations, assessing a variety of clinical skills in simulated environment with simulated patients using standardized rating scales (checklists).
