Learning Outcomes
Objectives of this lesson is the teaching of acute vascular diseases of the visceral vessels, and in particular the acute visceral ischemia, (mesenteric embolism, non-obstructive mesenteric ischemia, venous intestinal thrombosis) and the rupture of visceral aneurysms. The purpose of the course is to provide to the postgraduate students with the necessary theoretical background and the basic principles of the diagnosis and treatment of ischemic and aneurysmatic visceral diseases, at the level of primary and secondary medical care.
Course Content (Syllabus)
• Anatomy and physiology of the arterial and venous system of the viscera
• Splenic artery aneurysm.
• Renal artery emergencies
• Celiac artery aneurysm
• Aneurysms of celiac artery and mesenteric arteries branches
• Pathophysiology of acute and chronic intestinal ischemia
• Acute intestinal ischemia – Functional intestinal ischemia - Clinical presentation and diagnosis
• Mesenteric venous thrombosis and chronic intestinal ischemia - Clinical presentation and diagnosis
• Open surgical treatment of acute and chronic intestinal ischemia
• Endovascular surgical treatment of acute and chronic intestinal ischemia
• Renal hypertension
• Biochemical markers - laboratory diagnosis and monitoring of acute and chronic visceral ischemia
