Course Content (Syllabus)
In-depth study of a specific subject related to the French Civilization, sometimes with a clear universal orientation and an impact in the field of Human Sciences. The specific approach to the French Civilization, inherent to the development of the French language and critical thinking, deploys during the educational process its very important contribution to the intellectual evolution of Europe. The subject studied here is Myths and Realities about the concept of motherhood and the various discourse kinds about mother in western and especially French literature. The interdisciplinary approach to this broad and admittedly controversial concept of motherhood in Western societies, for at least the last few years, take place, during and through the course, at the crossroads of many theoretical fields (sexual / erotic, biological / genetic, social / cultural / religious, psychological / psychological / psychological) and literary texts respectively.

1. History of motherhood
2. Feminist critique of motherhood as an institution
3. Maternity and Education: an exclusively maternal task
4 Mother omnipresent implicitly or explicitly in literature
5.The logic of Maternal Sacrifice
6. Myths, Maternity and Intertextuality
7. The mother-woman or the right to regression and sublimation
8. Psychoanalysis and Maternity: The Oedipus complex and the Jocasta complex
9. Matricide and Matrophobia in the texts
10. The mother-daughter relationship in the texts
11. The mother-son relationship in the texts
12. In the name of the mother: a role to be redefined in Beauvoir texts
13. Absent fathers and ubiquitous monstrous mothers or towards a new history of positive motherhood?
