Learning Outcomes
Students at the end of the semester must have basic knowledge of the structure, function and potential of the possibilities offered by the Internet. They must also be able: - To conduct research and utilize the Internet using advanced search techniques to retrieve any kind of information (text, audio clips, etc.) - To investigate and exploit web bibliographic resources of any kind - To use synchronous and asynchronous communication services on the net - To use word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software for academic use - To create and maintain a blog

Course Content (Syllabus)
ITC/AUTH’s Digital Services. Webmail and Digital Libraries AUTH. Operating Systems, software and hardware: Basic knowledge. Computer networks. Internet Browsers. Search engines and advanced search techniques. Basic notions on Network protocols and web services. Multimedia files management on the Internet. Advanced knowledge of office software for academic use: text processing, spreadsheets, presentations and email software. Blog creation and administration.

Description
Evaluation is done by continuous assessment during the semester. Students must deliver papers or projects assigned to them individually or -sometimes- in groups. The evaluation criteria are the quality / originality and completeness / variety of content the scientific / theoretical support and technical excellence. Works submitted to the teacher may be returned to the students -if needed- with comments and instructions for further corrections or improvements.
