Exclusions and discrimination in modern states

The course Exclusions and Discriminations in Modern States is offered as a compulsory course in the spring semester of the first year of the "Political History" MA of the Department of Political Sciences of the Aristotle University. There are no mandatory prerequisite courses. However, it presupposes a good knowledge of Modern European and Greek History, of the history of the modern state, general knowledge of the ideological foundation of social discrimination and exclusion. Also, critical thinking and an interest in history and politics.

There is a regular use of ICT in teaching. In particular, there is use of the internet during the course to access and view Web pages, information, movies, documentaries related to the lesson. There is a regular use of ICT in communicating with students: consultation on the educational process, discussing questions and concerns about their study.

The precise method of assessment for each course is determined by the faculty member responsible for teaching, and may be based on written or oral examinations, or on students’ assignments, or on a combination of the above. Course grading is based on a scale from one to ten. Five is set as the pass grade. 2. In case of failure in a core course, students are required to repeat it in subsequent semesters. 3. In case of failure in an elective course, students are required either to repeat the course in subsequent semesters or change it with another elective course. The score is based upon: a) The level of knowledge on the subject b)The capability of analysis and synthesis c)The understanding of the subject
