Learning Outcomes
Through the teaching of the course, students will: - learn to use the sources concerning the history of the Church of Greece. - be able to identify, study and evaluate the sources of the Church History of the dioceses and other ecclesiastical institutions of Greece. - be familiar with the editions of the sources and the electronic tools for researching the sources of the ecclesiastical history of the Greek territory.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course offers the opportunity to identify, study and evaluate the sources of the Ecclesiastical History of the dioceses and other ecclesiastical institutions of Greece. 1. Introduction. The sources of the ecclesiastical history of Greece and the instrumenta studiorum. 2. The New Testament as the primary source of the ecclesiastical history of Greece - The historical narratives of the canonical and apocryphal Acts 3. The New Testament as the primary source of the ecclesiastical history of Greece - The canonical and the apocryphal Epistles 4. The sources of the post-apostolic period for the ecclesiastical history of Greece (Apostolic Fathers - ancient Apologists) 5. The early and new Passions–Martyria as sources for the ecclesiastical history of Greece 6. The Acts of the Synods and the Notitiae Episcopatuum as sources for the ecclesiastical history of Greece 7. Church historians and chronographers of the Byzantine period and the ecclesiastical history of Greece 8. The hagiographic texts of the Byzantine period as sources for the ecclesiastical history of Greece 9. Monastic and ecclesiastical Typika and Testaments relating to monasteries and churches in Greece 10. Ecclesiastical histories of the Ottoman period as sources for the ecclesiastical history of Greece 11. The testimonies of ecclesiastical history of the Greek territory in Christian monuments, inscriptions, etc. 12. Monastic and ecclesiastical libraries and archives in Greece (manuscripts, documents, seals, etc.) 13. Presentation of papers - examination of the course
