In the School of Dentistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki the Dental Curriculum is full time and complies with the program of Appendix V, 5.3.1 in accordance with Article 34 of the Directive 2005/36/EC of September 7, 2005 aw it was amended by paragraph 26, Article Ι of the Directive 2013/55/EC of the European Parliament and the European Council of November 20, 2013
The Dental Curriculum of the Dental School is in accordance with the position paper of ADEE( Association for Dental Education in Europe) on the Profile and Competences of the European Dentist. Each student during his/her five year studies has to successfully complete theoretical courses with laboratory exercises, one full academic year of preclinical courses and two full academic years of clinical training. To graduate from the School of Dentistry, students have to attend and successfully complete courses (compulsory and elective) of a total effort equal to 300 ECTS (student total work load) Studies in the School of Dentistry comprise of 10 semesters (2 semesters per year). Upon successful completion of their studies graduates of the School of Dentistry have acquired knowledge and skills that allows them to (a) practice Dentistry as professional health providers in the private or the public sectors (b) get involved with scientific research in the field of Dentistry (c) apply knowledge in practice (d) communicate in a second language (e) use the necessary technologies (f) demonstrate social, professional and moral responsibility and (g) work independently or in groups in international or interdisciplinary contexts

Compliance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) regulations started in 2007, when the Greek Legislation was harmonized with the relevant European one (Ministerial Decision no Φ5/89656/β3, art 1-3, Hellenic Government Gazette no 1466/2007B).
