A Degree awarded by a Greek public University (AEI) or by a Technological Education Institute (TEI) or by a foreign institution of equivalent status which is recognized by the Hellenic National Academic Recognition Information Center (ΔΟΑΤΑΠ) is required.
Students that want to acquire the postgraduate degree in "Education Sciences", they are required to successfully complete 4 semesters that correspond to a total of 120 ECTS. During the 1st, 2nd and 3rd semesters, which correspond to 90 ECTS, the students have to attend and successfully complete the exams of their taught courses. During the 4th semester, which corresponds to 30 ECTS, the students work on their Master Thesis which they defend in public.
The post-graduate programme "Education Sciences" aims to provide essential knowledge and expertise in various fields of Education supporting the graduates to empower their professional development and acquire research skills in education.
Upon successful completion of the programme requirements the graduates will acquire theoretical and empirical background and research competencies in order to work as skilled scientific personnel in Educational centers like schools and other institutes. The programme aims also at training education managers, educational consultants, experts in the development of curricula and educational policy makers.
Upon completion, in addition to the basic knowledge of their discipline and profession, graduates will also be able to a) search, process, analyze and interpret data, b) work independently or in groups, c) generate new research ideas and design and manage projects, d) reflect on themselves and on others critically, e) promote inductive and deductive thinking.

A full academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS units and each semester to 30 ECTS (European Credit transfer System) (1 ECTS=25-30 student work load hours). Compliance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) regulations started in 2007, when the Greek Legislation was harmonized with the relevant European one (Ministerial Decision no Φ5/89656/β3, art. 1-3, Hellenic Government Gazette no 1466/2007/B). Each course is credited with a number of ECTS (>=2) according to the studentworkload (contact hours, laboratory work, examination etc) and accumulation of credits (ECTS) is accomplished after successful completion of course.
