Α degree awarded by a Greek public University or by a recognized foreign Institution of equivalent status or by a Technological Education Institute is required. Applicants should provide evidence of proficiency in English of at least C1 level. For the MA in Foreign Language Learning and Teaching and the MA in Language, Literature and Digital Media in Education acceptance depends on the overall evaluation of application. For the MA in Linguistics an interview is also a prerequisite for acceptance.
Students need to attend and successfully complete 6 courses, three compulsory and three elective courses. Each course corresponds to 10 ECTS. Postgraduate students also need to write a diploma thesis (30 ECTS). The total number of credits (ECTS) required for the MA is 90 (1ECTS=27,5 student work load hours).Compliance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) regulations (Ministerial Decision no Φ5/89656/β3, art. 1-3, Hellenic Government Gazette no 466/2007/B)
The basic aims are to provide students with:
-a robust theoretical background in their objects of specialization
-the skills to conduct independent research
-the ability to combine theory with practice
-specialization to gain a competitive advantage in the labor market
Specifically:
The MA in Linguistics aims to provide students with a robust background in theoretical linguistics and key skills that will enable them to conduct independent research in linguistics. Students will acquire an up-to-date knowledge on major theoretical frameworks and models as well as important methodological issues and procedures in linguistic research so that they can carry out basic research on different linguistic levels and their interface, as well as applied research in, among others, language teaching, language technology, speech pathology, etc.
The MA in Foreign Language Learning and Teaching aims to connect theory and practice in language teaching. It aims to provide the opportunity to postgraduate students to explore and examine issues related to language learning theories as well as their importance for language teaching.
The MA in Language, Literature and Digital Media in Education aims to combine the theoretical principles and practices for the teaching of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and the integration of literature as a fundamental element in the educational process. Its goal is to promote implicit language instruction while successfully implementing literary texts for the teaching of primary and secondary level students. An additional goal of this MA programme is to educate teachers on the use of digital media in English Language Teaching (EFL).

A scale of 1 to 10 applies to the marks of each subject in the Hellenic Higher Education. The grading scheme is as follows in the qualification Ptychion (Ministerial Decision no Φ.1231/Β1/425 art.60, Hellenic Government Gazette no 1099/2000/B):
Άριστα (Arista) Excellent: 8.50-10.00
Λίαν Καλώς (Lian Kalos) Very Good: 6.50- 8.49
Καλώς (Kalos) Good: 6.00-6.49
Ανεπιτυχώς (Anepitichos) Fail: 0-5,99
Minimum passing grade: 6
It is a full-time programme which lasts 18 months (3 semesters)
