In order to graduate from the School of Informatics, students are required to attend and successfully complete courses (compulsory and electives) and the undergraduate thesis (equivalent to 15 ECTS) within a time period which is consistent with the law. The programme of studies is structured as follows: The first five semesters include core courses that provide the student with the necessary fundamental knowledge. During the following three semesters students attend elective courses belonging to one or two of groups of courses that constitute an educational flow.Each flow addresses a separate scientific field, or comprises a synergy between two or more fields.Elective courses in 6th-8th semesters are organized in sets of courses, called streams.Course streams consist of well-defined sets of courses dealing with one or a combination of scientific fields. At least one course stream must be completed to obtain the degree. The examination of a course is oral / written or with an assignment. In accordance with the law 44 ( FEK issue A, No. 58, 8/4/2009, 3893-3895), the graduates of the School of Informatics, depending on the general and specialized knowledge obtained throughout their studies, have a background knowledge relevant to computer hardware and software for collecting, classifying, processing and transmitting information, and have the skills to deal with activities such as study design, analysis, implementation, installation, operation and monitoring, evaluation, certification, in the following scientific fields:·

Information technology and Information Systems,·
Networks, Communications and Internet Applications,·
Educational Software and Digital Systems Supporting Learning,·
Systems and Applications of Signal, Image and Speech Processing.
Graduates of the School of Informatics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki based on their courses and dissertation can acquire training and skills closely related, but not limited to:(A) Teaching, in Universities and Technological Educational Institutions, secondary education and technical and vocational training, public or private, in theoretical, applied and technological level, in the disciplines of information technology and telecommunications.(B) Scientific research in public and private research centers in the disciplines listed above in theoretical, technological and applied level.(C) Computer Integrated services, computer networks, office automation and technical services in public organizations, in communication companies, in banking, insurance and medical sector, in the media, in businesses related to production and audiovisual material processing, transportation, shipping, tourism, in consulting firms and high technology companies. Upon completion of their studies and in addition to their basic knowledge of their discipline and profession, graduates of the School of Informatics are also able to: 1) apply knowledge in practice, 2) communicate in a second foreign language, 3) search, process, analyze and synthesize data and information using all the necessary technologies, 4) adapt to novel situations and make decisions, 5) work independently or in a group in international and / or interdisciplinary environment, 6) generate new research ideas and design and manage projects, 7) respect diversity, multiculturalism and the natural environment, 8) demonstrate social, professional, and moral responsibility and sensitivity to gender issues, 9) reflect on themselves as well as others critically, and 10) promote free, inductive and deductive thinking.
