<p><span style="color:black;">In order to obtain the Ptychion Iatrikes (Medical Degree), students must attend and succeed in all core and elective modules and undergo clinical training. Clinical education consists of teaching and clinical training. Hospital training in clinical modules begins in the third year, at a introductory level, and continues at an advanced level in the fourth, fifth and sixth years.</span></p><p> </p><p><span style="color:black;">Knowledge of the content of basic modules is a prerequisite for teaching in clinical modules conducted in the University Hospitals or associated Public Health Service Providers approved by the Medical School. During the last two semesters, the student is clinically instructed on practicing medicine under certain guidance (trimesters).</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">Specifically, learning outcomes and competencies aim to give the ability to:</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">1. Examine a patient,</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">2. Judge clinical cases, order laboratory tests, make differential diagnoses, and undertake a management plan,</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">3. Provide immediate care of medical emergencies, including First Aid and resuscitation,</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">4. Prescribe drugs,</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">5. Carry out practical procedures,</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">6. Communicate effectively in a medical context,</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">7. Apply ethical and legal principles in medical practice,</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">8. Assess psychological and social aspects of a patientillness,</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">9. Apply the principles, skills and knowledge of evidence based medicine,</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">10. Use information and information technology effectively in a medical context,</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">11. Apply scientific principles, methods and knowledge to medical practice and research,</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">12. Promote health, engage with population health issues and work effectively in a health care and solidarity system.</span></p><p> </p><p><span style="color:black;">Medical School graduates, beyond the basic scientific and professional knowledge, are able to think freely, creatively and inductively, apply knowledge in practice, communicate in a second language beyond their mother tongue, use technology for searching, processing and analyzing information, analyze, compose, adapt to novel situations and make decisions, work independently or in a team at international or/and interdisciplinary level, produce new research ideas, plan and manage projects, respect individuality, multiculturalism and the environment, demonstrate social, professional and moral responsibility and sensitivity towards gender issues and achieve self - and peer assessment abilities. In practice, their training aims to produce learning outcomes and competencies which enable to offer service in the fields of Health, Education and Environment.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:black;">Ptychion Iatrikes:</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">- Entitles to subscription in any Medical Association in Greece and thus the practice of medicine.</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">- Is a qualification automatically recognized (according to the Directive 2005/36/EC) within the EU and entitles practice of medicine in any EU country.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:black;">Access to postgraduate studies and Doctorate in Medical Sciences D(med)Sc or PhD.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:black;">A scale of 1 to 10 applies to the grades of each module in the Hellenic Higher Education. The grading scheme is as follows:</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">Άριστα (Arista)  Excellent:  8.50 - 10</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">Λίαν Καλώς (Lian Kalos) Very Good:  6.50 - 8.49</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">Καλώς (kalos) Good :   5.00 - 6.49</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">Ανεπιτυχώς (Anepitychos) Fail: 0.00-4.99</span></p><p><span style="color:black;">Minimum passing grade:  5.00.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:black;">12 Semesters 360 ECTS </span>Core Curriculum approved by Assembly meeting 36/12-6-2020.</p><p><span style="color:black;">A full academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS units and each semester to 30 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) (1 ECTS = 25-30 hours). Compliance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System regulations started in 2007, when the Greek Legislation was harmonized with the relevant European one (Ministerial Decision no Φ5/89656/β3, art. 1-3, Hellenic Government Gazette no 1466/2007/B). Each course is credited with a number of ECTS (>=2) according to the studentworkload (contact hours, laboratory work, examination etc.) and accumulation of credits (ECTS) is accomplished after successful completion of course.</span></p>
