"Research Methodology in Medicine and in Health Sciences"
According to Law 2609/18-06-2021, for the acquisition of the Postgraduate Specialization Degree "Research Methodology in Medicine and in Health Sciences", postgraduate students have to complete a set of courses extending over 3 semesters, which corresponds to 90 ECTS (Law 67145/B7, Law 1889/2007/Β7).
Τhey have to attend and successfully be examined to 8 subjects (Background-General Knowledge, Scientific Area, Dexterity Development), which are divided as follows: a) In the 1st semester (30 ECTS) - 4 subjects b) In the 2nd semester (30 ECTS) -4 subjects and c) In the 3rd semester (30 ECTS) - they design and accomplish their Postgraduate Thesis, which they defend publicly and, subsequently, being examined. The program aims to the specialization of a spectrum of scientists in Medical Research Methodology and the application of Computing and New Technologies in Medicine.
The aim of PGSD is to satisfy the need for high level Postgraduate Studies in the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, which constitute the necessary requirement towards international, competitive, specialization diplomas and doctorate theses. Postgraduate students are educated in Medical Research Methodology, as well as in applications which promote Modern Medical Technology. They are tutored in data processes by means of multimedia, such as signals or pictures, in scientific processes for knowledge acquisition through libraries and databases use, with the aid of modern computer tools, as well as in more sophisticated and modern medical fields, such as Molecular Biology, Systematic Physiology etc. The educational objective is the creation of specialized scientific personnel, which will be able to perform competitive basic, laboratory, clinical, social and applied Medical Research. The education refers to three basic specialization directions: Basic Medical Research and Clinical Medical Research.
Apart from the basic scientific knowledge, postgraduate students acquire the following abilities: 1) to apply knowledge to practice, 2) to search, analyze and synthesize data and information using appropriate technology, 3) to work individually, in teams or / and multidisciplinary scientific environment, 4) to adjust to new situations and take decisions, 5) to comprehend information in a foreign language, 6) to produce new ideas and scientific knowledge, 7) to show responsibility, 8) to develop critical ability and 9) to promote free, productive and inductive thought.
No professional certification is applied in the public or private sector, the Diploma of Postgraduate Studies is sufficient.
The qualification is a terminal award and allows access to doctoral degree in School of Medicine of AUTH.
A scale of 1 to 10 applies to the marks of each subject in the Hellenic Higher Education. The grading scheme for the qualification of the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Study Program follows the following distribution : (Ministerial Decision no Φ.1231/Β1/425 art.60, Hellenic Government Gazette no 1099/2000/B):
