Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. know the most important aromatic and medicinal plants and how they can be cultivated in Greece and utilized.
2. to know the botanical characteristics, adaptation, cultivation practices, nutrition, products, chemical composition and commercial aspects for the most important for Greek agriculture aromatic and medicinal plants.

Course Content (Syllabus)
1. Introduction, importance of aromatic and medicial plants, botanical description, ecological requirements.
2. Propagation, agricultural practices, weed control, irrigation, harvest.
3. Quality characteristics, essential oils, methods of extraction of essential oils.
4. Uses of aromatic and medicinal plants in controlling pests, weeds and in animal feed and food science.
5. Analytical description of the cultivation of oregano.
6. Analytical description of the cultivation of saffran.
7. Analytical description of the cultivation of achillea, valeriana, basil and st' John's wort.
8. Analytical description of the cultivation of anise, laurel, speramint, mint and rosmary.
9. Analytical description of the cultivation of thyme, dictamus, majorana and louiza.
10. Analytical description of the cultivation of coriander, cumin, levander and lemon balm
11. Analytical description of the cultivation of jasmine, salvia and sage.
12. Analytical description of the cultivation of rose, chamomile, tilio and mountain tea.
13. Analytical description of the cultivation of echinacea, eucalyptus, hop and Chios Mastiha.
