Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course students will: • know the main personality theories • be familiar with the application of personality theories to personality assessment as well as clinical applications • be aware of the role of genetic and sociocultural factors in the formation and development of personality

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course offers an introduction to psychological theories of personality. It covers in detail the main theories of personality that have been developed in psychology, specifically psychoanalytic theories, phenomenological theories, trait theories, behavioural and cognitive approaches, as well as social cognitive theory. During the course students are sensitized to issues regarding the definition of personality, debates on the role of genetic and environmental factors in personality formation, clinical applications of personality theories, as well as the role of the social and cultural context in the formation and development of personality.
