Learning Outcomes
(a) To acquaint students with the literary genre of ancient Greek drama and tragedy in particular. (b) To familiarize students with the main tragedians of antiquity. (c) To help students discover the rich linguistic texture of tragedies as well as to recognize the theatrical dimension of tragedies as texts written to be performed on stage. (d) To acquaint students with the multiple relation between tragedy and other literary genres as well the historical era in which tragedy was performed.
