Learning Outcomes
The course is aimed at undergraduate students who have little previous knowledge of the subject; therefore, it is designed to meet the requirements of the English learner and, in particular, initiate freshers of Pastoral studies into basic structures and terminology of their specialty. The selected texts are specifically adapted to their needs and prepare them for their final mandatory English examination. As freshers are not yet well acquainted with the requirements of such a course, which, as an EFL genre, is called 'English for Specific Purposes (ESP), it has been quite a challenge for the author to fulfil such a necessity and design suitable material tailored to learners' special needs after thoroughly analyzing their 'Needs Analysis Questionnaire'. Through ESP teaching, which acts as a means of conveying the Pastoral Subject, skills are acquired and the learner is acquainted with basic scientific concepts introducing language learning strategies, reading techniques, grammar practice through a variety of tasks as well as the techniques of written discourse (summary writing).
