Course Content (Syllabus)
Information and Communication Technologies are usually seen as a means suitable for language analysis (e.g. text corpora) or for teaching languages (e.g. educational software). This is the pedagogical aspect examined in the course. The other topic examined in the course is investigated much more rarely and concerns the predominant use of computers for Technologically Mediated Communication and the consequences this has for the representation of meaning and the content of literacy. Special attention is given to relating the new media with the older world of communication (writing, printing), to identifying common and specific characteristics and to assessing the implications for the content of language teaching today.
