Course Content (Syllabus)
The course explores through an interdisciplinary approach how Society, Religion and Law are interrelated and interact with one another in the 21st century. More specifically, it specializes in the study of issues, such as: the role of religion in the public sphere; the protection of religious freedom at ecumenical and regional level; the debate on secularization and the presence of religious symbols in public space; the institutional the role of the state in relation to the religious phenomenon in general and in relation to individual religious communities; the relations of state and religion in Greece and in the Member States of the European Union; the specific international, European and Greek protection of religion religious minorities; domestic and international policies on religious pluralism and immigration; the economic and fiscal status of religions; the legal status of protection of religious art.
