Course Content (Syllabus)
The course is devoted to the study of Aristotle’s «Poetics», the first extant philosophical treatise on the art of poetry, which has exercised a great deal of influence on subsequent literary theory. Through the concepts of μίμησις, καθόλου, ἁμαρτία, κάθαρσις, etc., we will focus on the nature of tragic poetry, and the value of the mimetic arts.
