Learning Outcomes
The course aims at introducing the student to the study of Animal behaviour. This aim is achieved through the study of topics related to the patterns of animal learning, the ways of communication, movement, migration and homing. Also other cases studied are related to feeding and anti-predator behaviour, mating behaviour, territoriality and biotic interactions.

Introduction to Ethology. Development and evolution of behavior. Instinct and learning. Animal communication. Habitat selection. Territoriality. Homing. Migration. Feeding and anti-predator behavior. Mating behavior and Mating Systems. Sexual selection. Male rivalry. Female choice. Sperm competition. Biotic interactions. Biotic factors. Intraspecies interrelationships. Social behavior. Altruism. Group selection. Kin selection. Parental care. Cooperation.
