Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, post-graduate students will be able to:
• discern the basic characteristics of qualitative research and understand its role in the ecumenical movement and particularly in the contemporary socio-ethical thought and action of the World Council of Churches.
• analyze and process texts of contemporary ecumenical socio-ethical reflection.
• discuss critical issues which concern the Christian churches, especially the Orthodox Church in the contemporary ecumenical dialogue.
• work individually and collectively on the various relevant issues and exploit all means of scientific research
• present the results of their research in a scientific and contemporary way.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course analyzes the concept, methodology and problematic of ecumenical social ethics. The evolution of socio-ecumenical thought and action concerning the World Council of Churches, and its precursor Movements is investigated, with simultaneous study of the contribution of the Orthodox Church and theology. Emphasis is given on the relationship between Ecclesiology and Ethics, especially in the context of globalization and on the examination of the efforts undertaken during the last years for the cooperation between the Christian Churches and other religions for peace and justice in the world.
