Learning Outcomes
Students who have successfully completed the course are able to: - handle with ease the terminology of Arabic grammar and syntax - use specialized terminology and generate definitions when needed - acknowledge the importance of modern standard Arabic as a means of communication - produce brief descriptions for paragraphs - write the summary of texts on theological and other topics - translate medium length texts on theological and other topics - compose coherent pieces of wrtiing on relevant topics - communicate orally on those topics

Course Content (Syllabus)
The aim of the course is to deepen to the knowledge of Modern Standard Arabic. More specifically, during the course the study students will complete the study of the Arabic verb in all its conjugations, as well as the passive voice, the subjunctive and the imperative for both regular and irregular verbs. Students will work towards consolidating all the basic grammatical phenomena of the Arabic language they were taught in the previous classes of Arabic language, and finally they will be introduced to the conditional sentences. At the end of the course students will be able to understand and render correctly in Greek Arabic texts of medium length on various topics related to modern life, Islam and interreligious dialogue, to recognize the grammatical and syntactic structures of sentences, and use Arabic-English dictionaries to explore interpretations of words derived from the same root
