This course examines the following topics:
• Ottoman conquests in Asia Minor and Balkan Peninsula
• Constantinople fall (1453)
• the living conditions of enslaved Christians
• the Sultan Mehmet II attitude to the Ecumenical Patriarchate
• the Ecumenical Patriarch rights and obligations
• Christian revolutions against Ottoman rule
• Ottoman reforms (1839-1876)
• the Ecumenical Patriarch privileges during the 19th-20th centuries
• Christian and Muslim communities
