Postgraduate
DEGREE FROM A DEPARTMENT OF A UNIVERSITY OR HIGHER TECHNOLOGICAL INSTITUTE.
Graduates of the Engineering Faculties of the Hellenic Universities are potentially accepted, along with those of other departments related to the subject of the postgraduate program. Obtaining the MSc degree is not equivalent with the acquisition of the basic degree of Rural and Surveying Engineering.
In order to obtain the Postgraduate Specialization Degree of the Postgraduate Studies program (PSP) in Techniques and Methods for Spatial Analysis, Planning and Management of the School of Ryral and Surveying Engineering, the graduate students successfully complete the two - semester cycle of courses and deliver the postgraduate thesis. The totality of these requirements amounts to 60 ECTS. During the 1st semester (30 ECTS) the graduate students attend and pass successfully the examinations of 4 courses and elaborate part of the podtgraduate thesis. During the second semester (30 ECTS) attend and pass successfully the examinations of 4 courses and complete the podtgraduate thesis. The graduation thesis is presented in public and examined by a committee. The PSP title is awarded in one of the following sectors of specialization. a) Cadastre and Management of Spatial Data, b) Cartographic Production and Geographic Analysis, and c) Organization and Management of Resources and Developmental Projects.
1."CADASTRE AND MANAGEMENT OF SPATIAL DATA"The direction provide at a scientific training of high level, concerning the specialization in the Cadastre and the GIS area. The purpose of the direction is the fulfillment of the marketnecessities in specialized staff as well as the preparation of future researchers of Educational Institutions. The postgraduate students receive theoretical and practical knowledge which is necessary for the study, production and management of spatio-temporal geometric - thematic data and metadata, in spatial analysis applications and in specialized Cadastre problems. Further training for the creation of relative modern software and the accomplishment of complex Cadastre applications is provided. After graduation the students: organize and manage the Cadastre Data Bases concerning spatiotemporal and/or 3D information, organize and manage the GISs that serve the Public and Private Sector, manage studies for the human and natural procedures through Cadastre and GIS, confront complex cadastre problems and create software for cadastre and/or other spatial applications.
2."CARTOGRAPHIC PRODUCTION AND GEOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS"The Post graduate course on "Cartographic Production and Geographic Analysis" is addressed to Surveying Engineers, Urban and Regional Planners, Geographers, Architects, Geologists and others, to train them, on those perts of Theory, Methods and Techniques, which are indispensable to the Research and Applications of the relevant Cartographic and Geographic issues, as well as the correlation between the two Sciences.
3."ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT OR RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS"The program aims at providing a high level of postgraduate education which refers to: statistical methods in space analysisstructural policies of the European Union and the role of Greeceapproaches refering to organization and management of transport systems water quality and environmental management analysis of issues concerning space and economyevaluation of feasibility and viability of transport projectswater resources management topics of geographic organization and analysis in Greece After the completion of their studies, the postgraduate degree holders will organize and analyze space, organize and manage transport projects and systems management of water resources, with the utilization of the appropriate scientific methods, techniques and software.
Holders of the postgraduate degrees of the Department Of Rural and Surveying Engineering, beyond the knowledge of their descipline and profession, possess abilities to: 1) apply knowledge in practice, 2) communicate in a second (foreign) language, 3) adapt to changing conditions and make desicions, 4) work indipendently or in groups in international and/or interdisciplinary settings 6) generate new research ideas and design and manage projects, 7) respect diversity, multiculturalism and the natural environment, 8) exhibit social, professional and moral responsibility and sensitivity to gender issues, 9) exescise criticism as well as self -criticism, 10) promote free, inductive and deductive thinking.Beyond the above general characteristics that apply not only to graduate, but also to the undergraduate studies provided by a University, the holder of a postgraduate degree is characterized by a distinct profile, consisting in his/her stronger theoretical background, the consequent flexibility in acquiring new skills, the crotical evaluation of new technologiew and a ersearch mentality.
The postgraduate specialization degree is a conferred to graduates of the Engineering Faculties and does not presuppose holding of the basic degree and the professional rights of the Rural and Surveying Engineer. The graduates of related University Departments obtain a certificate of graduation from the Postgraduate Program.
Possibility for a doctoral dissertation.
A scale of 1 to 10 applies to the marks of each subject in the Hellenic Higher Education.
