Learning Outcomes
Students in the course will become familiar with the multidisciplinary aspects of developmental science and the basic theories of human development during adulthood (early-middle-late) in the light of a critical approach that challenges the prevailing psychology and questions its adaptive nature. Particularly they will:
• recognize and distinguish the different theoretical approaches and positions for development in adulthood in terms of the dimensions of stability and change, the course or paths of development and in terms of the influence of nature (heredity) or upbringing (environment).
• be practiced in a reflective approach of the explicit and implicit assumptions of the field of developmental science, but also of their own personal theories for the above.
• adopt the principle of critical and dialectical reflective inquiry into the understanding and interpretation of human behavior in the context of the complex, multidisciplinary phenomenon of adult development.
