General Prerequisites
Familiarization with principles of the Semantic Web and technologies for knowledge representation using RDF and OWL, including ontology development frameworks and reasoning systems
Learning Outcomes
Cognitive: The students shall acquire specialized knowledge in ontology development using advanced concepts and methodologies; Students will become acquainted with automated reasoning and ontology development methodologies (top-down and bottom-up); Use of technologies for managing semantic knowledge bases.
Skills: The students shall acquire specialized knowledge for developing and managing semantic models, inferencing and information retrieval from Knowledge Graphs. In addition, students will become acquainted with methods to survey the literature on the domain and practice on the preparation of papers and presentations (ability to communicate, presentation techniques, QA, etc.)

Ontology development methodologies (Ontology Engineering), Description Logics, Advanced ontology design principles (Ontology Design Patterns), Knowledge Graph construction and validation (RDB2RDF, Shape Constraints and Expressions), Accessing and using semantic networks and graphs (DBpedia, YAGO, Wikidata, ConceptNet, BabelNet), Semantic repositories (RDF triplestores), RDF graph visualization (VOWL, OntoGraph, Gruff)
