<p><span style="color:#151B1E;">To graduate from the School of Drama, students must attend and successfully complete 58 courses (COR, RELC, FRELC) and a Diploma project, a total of 300 ECTS. </span></p><p><span style="color:#151B1E;">The School of Drama offers a five-year degree (2 semesters per year) and is structured as follows: during the first four (4) years of study (eight (8) semesters) the full-time academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS (30 ECTS per semester). For the fifth year of study, the full-time ninth (9) semester is equivalent to 30 ECTS and the degree concludes in the tenth (10) semester with the completion of the Diploma project, which is equivalent to 30 ECTS and consists of two parts: a. a theoretical dissertation or an artistic project and b. a public lecture.</span></p><p><span style="color:#151B1E;">The School of Theatre is committed to a rigorous scholarly study of theatre as well as the advancement of theatre practice. The degree, therefore, offers an opportunity to engage in a mixed study of the subject: scholarly and artistic, theoretical and practical, given that the School’s aim is to generate a space of study and research where theory and practice, scholarship and art can collaborate and inform each other with a view to shape new theatre scholars and practitioners equipped with well-balanced general knowledge of the subject as well as specialised professional skills. </span></p><p><span style="color:#151B1E;">Studying at the School of Theatre offers the possibility to pursue one of four specialisms in which students are selected according to their interests as well as their performance in the introductory courses relevant to each specialism.</span></p><p><span style="color:#151B1E;">The specialisms are:</span></p><ul><li><span style="color:#151B1E;">Drama and Theatre Studies</span></li><li><span style="color:#151B1E;">Acting</span></li><li><span style="color:#151B1E;">Scenography</span></li><li><span style="color:#151B1E;">Directing</span></li></ul><p><span style="color:#151B1E;">In addition, as part of the overall degree, the undergraduate programme of study ensures that all graduates are granted pedagogical proficiency, by means of attending relevant core courses in order to complete their degree.</span></p><p><span style="color:#151B1E;"><strong>Learning Objectives</strong></span></p><p><span style="color:#151B1E;">All the graduates of the School of Drama will have fundamental knowledge and skills in the theory and history of theatre. Moreover, everyone acquires skills in theatre in education: the ability to develop and execute educational projects in primary and secondary education (dramatic play, dramatization, theatre pedagogy). In addition, depending on the specialism they have selected, students will be able to achieve:</span></p><ul><li><span style="color:#151B1E;">Drama and Theatre Studies: theoretical knowledge, critical thinking, the ability to think the theory and history of theatre in abstract and correlational terms.</span></li><li><span style="color:#151B1E;">Acting: skills that relate to the artistic work of the actor; conception and realisation of an artistic project.</span></li><li><span style="color:#151B1E;">Scenography: skills that relate to the artistic work of the scenographer and costume designer; conception and realisation of an artistic project.</span></li><li><span style="color:#151B1E;">Directing: skills that relate to the artistic work of the director; conception and realisation of an artistic project.</span></li></ul><p><span style="color:#151B1E;"><strong>Employability</strong></span></p><p><span style="color:#151B1E;">All graduates are equipped with skills that enable them to work in primary and secondary education, taking up roles such as facilitators of theatre in education projects and teachers of theatre studies.</span></p><p><span style="color:#151B1E;">In addition, depending on the selected specialism and the Diploma project they have completed, the graduates of the School of Drama have the knowledge, abilities and skills to work:</span></p><ul><li><span style="color:#151B1E;">Theatre scholarship and/or academic career.</span></li><li><span style="color:#151B1E;">In artistic roles within the culture industry: actors, directors, scenographers and costume designers, lighting designers.</span></li><li><span style="color:#151B1E;">In technical roles within the culture industry: producers, technicians, set and prop makers</span></li><li><span style="color:#151B1E;">As officers in public, municipal and private theatre organisations: dramaturgs, programme editors, producing co-ordinators, co-ordinators of educational projects.</span></li><li><span style="color:#151B1E;">As facilitators (animateurs) of theatre related activities in regional, municipal and other cultural centres.</span></li><li><span style="color:#151B1E;">In the media (culture journalism and theatre reviewing)</span></li></ul>
