Study Guide

<p>Access qualifications are: </p><p>- Bachelor΄s degree in Chemistry, Geology, Physics, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Archaeology, Conservation Science, Architecture, and related disciplines </p><p>- Knowledge of English equivalent to CEFR level B2. </p>

<p>Learning outcomes include: </p><p>- Competence of understanding and applying correct scientific methodologies for the study and conservation of cultural heritage materials/artefacts of different nature. </p><p>- Competence of conducting scientific work, critically assessing and integrating scientific findings and knowledge, and independently managing projects on the safeguarding of cultural heritage. </p><p>All modules are compulsory, with the exception of the levelling module (1^st semester, 9 ECTS credits) different for students with a scientific background and students with a humanities background. Compulsory is furthermore an Intensive School (2^nd semester). The diploma thesis includes laboratory/field work. </p>

<p>The qualification is a final award. It provides the right to access to doctoral studies in the European Higher Education Area. No further specific standards are required. </p>

<p>Marks for the 1^st semester are presented in a scale of 1 to 20 marks for the 2^nd/4^th semesters in a scale of 1 to 10 marks for the 3^rd semester in a scale of 1 to 30. The pass mark is 50%. </p><p>The final mark is presented in a scale of 1 to 10, and additionally in the ECTS Grading Scale. </p>

<p>Four semesters (120 ECTS credits). Each semester has a workload of 30 ECTS credits. </p><p>A full academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS units and each semester to 30 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) (1ECTS=25-30 student work load hours). Compliance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) regulations started in 2007, when the Greek Legislation was harmonized with the relevant European one (Ministerial Decision no Φ5/89656/β3, art. 1-3, Hellenic Government Gazette no 1466/2007/B). Each course is credited with a number of ECTS (>=2) according to the student΄s workload (contact hours, laboratory work, examination etc) and accumulation of credits (ECTS) is accomplished after successful completion of the course. </p>

<p>Full-time. The Programme pre-supposes physical mobility of students as referred above: </p><p>The 1^st semester takes place at the University of Evora, the 2^nd and 4^th at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the 3^rd at the University La Sapienza of Rome. The 4^th semester is devoted to the diploma thesis. </p>
