M.P. Advanced Design: Innovation and Transdisciplinarity in Design
Postgraduate

Canditates accepted from Postagraduate Programme must be holders of diploma from schools of Architecture or graduates of relevant schools from other Greek Universities or holders of diploma or degee from Institution abroad recognized as equivalent. In the latter case, recognition of the equivalence of deggree from DOATAP needs to be sumbmitted. Knowledge of English (Level Γ1 /C1) is required at time of enrollment or at latest until the beggining of first semester.

To be awarded of Master Degree in "Advanced Design: Innovation and Transdisciplinarity in Design" postgraduate students follow and be assessed on theoritical and design modules. A circle of three semesters that counts 90 ECTS is required (ΥΑ 206757/Ζ1/18-12-2014, ΦΕΚ 3515B/25-12-14, ΦΕΚ 3890Β/6-11-2017, 5445/τ.Β΄/5-12-2018 and 540/τ.Β΄/20-2-2020 ). At first cemester (30 ECTS) postgraduate students have to follow and be assessed on three lessons. Similarly at second one (30 ECTS). Studies are completed at third semester (30 ECTS), with the completion of master diploma thesis. Dissertations have to be presented and be assessed. The primary aim of the programme is to offer its graduates education that concerns long term research and experimentation through advanced design, emphasizing to innovation and transdisciplinarity. The postgraduate programme refocus on the discussion and on delving into the development of new knowledge, relevant competencies and diverse skills towards shaping and supporting a new profile of the contemporary creator-designer capable of collaborating and interacting with others. This collaboration can yield innovative proposals, relevant to the contemporary society of information and knowledge.

The programme is organized in three strands that are associated with the familiarization with the concept of advanced design and its evolution. The first strand concerns the role of creativity and innovation in architecture. The second strand concerns the transverse communications among diverse domains for the possibility of innovative approaches through collaborations. The third strand concerns experimentation as a research methodology for advanced design.

In particular, the graduates of Postgraduate Programme of "Advanced Design: Innovation and Transdisciplinarity in Design" are capable of using 3D modelling software as Rhino3D, Grasshopper3D, VRay for Rhino & 3DSMax and digital fabrication equipment and machinery as 3D Scanners, 3D Powder Printers, PLA Rapid Prototyping Machines, 3 Axis CNC Routers & Milling Machines, Thermal Vacuum Forming Machines, Laser Cutters.

Additional to basic knowledges of science and profession, graduates acquire the ability: 1) to deal with contemporary issues regarding creativity, innovation and design in the complex interface of culture and ubiquitous computational logic, 2) to possess and organize innovative personal thinking processes in order to perform novel proposals, 3) to collaborate and communicate with an array of specialists from a broad spectrum of expertise, ranging from scientific to creative/artistic in order to exploit the dynamic of transdisciplinarity as a platform for creativity and innovation, 4) to desire lifelong learning, to be agile and effective learners, 5) to adapt continuously society changes, 6) to foster advanced design as essential component in the role of professional profile of contemporary architect, 7) to implement critical, creative and socially responsive activity pursuit.

A scale of 1 to 10 applies to the marks of each subject in the Hellenic Higher Education

Excellent: 8,5-10,00

Very Good: 6,50-8,49

Good: 6,00-6,49

Fail: 0-5.99

Minimum passing grade 6,00

Postgraduate Programme "Advanced Design: Innovation and Transdisciplinarity in Design" is organised with compliance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) regulations started in 2007, when the Greek Legislation was harmonized with the relevant European one (Ministerial Decision no Φ5/89656/β3, art. 1-3, Hellenic Goverment Cazette no 1466/2007/B). Full studies are equivalent to 90 ECTS, 30ECTS/cemester. Responsible for equivalence of teaching hours/ lesson is the Coordinating Committee.
