<p>The total of credit units (ECTS) required to obtain the Metaptihiako Diploma (Master of Science, MSc) is 105 ECTS (at least). Postgraduate students are required to attend the postgraduate courses of first (A second (B and third (Csemesters equivalent to a minimum of 75 ECTS. The Postgraduate Thesis is initiated at the start of the first semester and comprises two phases. It begins with the literature review followed by the experimental section (first phase, with 15 ECTS). The thesis is completed with the processing (data analysis) and the presentation of results, before a three-member Examining Committee at a date and place set by the Department Assembly at the end of the third (Csemester (second phase, with 15 ECTS). The Postgraduate Thesis corresponds to a total of 30 ECTS. All postgraduate students must attend at least four (4) compulsory courses and at least six (6) of the elective courses in one of the following thematic disciplines: Ecology and Environmental Protection, Agronomy, Floriculture, Viticulture, Pomology, Weed Science, Vegetable Crops, Beekeeping, Plant Physiology-Ecophysiology and Biometry-Data Analysis, and Agricultural Experimentation or their combination or combination with courses from other postgraduate programs, and to complete their postgraduate thesis.</p><p>The aim of the Postgraduate Program is to provide students with basic scientific principles, comprehensive knowledge and methods that make them competent scientists for the creation of new knowledge, the application of which has a direct impact on the sustainable planning and management of the agro-ecosystems in Europe with a focus in the wider Mediterranean area, taking into account the impact of microclimate changes and extreme weather phenomena in their ecosystem services. Graduates will be capable of joining national or international, research, production, or administrative organizations, and advancing research in interdisciplinary, current and critical areas for the country, such as environmental protection and agricultural production.</p><p>The expected learning outcomes and qualifications of those who will successfully attend the Postgraduate Program are as follows:</p><p>• Acquisition of a high level of scientific background in the subject of study of the Postgraduate Program with the ability to apply the knowledge in practice</p><p>• Gaining expertise in promoting Sustainable Agriculture in agro-ecosystems, taking into account the impact of microclimate changes and extreme weather events in ecosystem services</p><p>• Acquiring abilities for the search, analysis and synthesis of data and information by using modern technologies</p><p>• Proper use and application of scientific methods to solve problems related to research for the development of "smart" Agriculture and Environmental Protection</p><p>• Acquisition of knowledge, abilities and skills for the production of new research ideas, the planning and management of scientific research projects, the presentation and publication of the corresponding results</p><p>• Acquiring abilities and skills to evaluate and adapt to new situations, decision-making, autonomous work and teamwork</p><p>• Acquiring skills and abilities to communicate and collaborate with the international scientific community related to the area of the Postgraduate Program as well as in related scientific fields</p><p>• Acquiring the necessary scientific background in order to cover the needs for specialized scientists in National and International Organizations who study the effects of climate change on ecosystem services of agro-ecosystems especially in the Mediterranean region</p><p>• Acquiring and demonstrating social, professional, scientific, and ethical responsibility</p><p>• Development of free, creative, inductive, and scientific thinking</p><p>• Developing a positive attitude and respect for the natural environment and investing in critical thinking and self-evaluation</p><p>The admitted postgraduate students, are able to choose a series of courses offered by the postgraduate program, which are necessary for the successful completion of their postgraduate dissertation in one of the following secondary (minor) thematic disciplines:</p><p>1. Ecology and Environmental Protection: The objective of the thematic discipline is to provide high quality theoretical and applied knowledge in general topics of "Ecology and Environmental Protection", but also in modern subjects of Agricultural Science directly related to Climate Change and the Environment. The secondary (minor) thematic discipline is related to the acquisition of higher expertise on "Ecology of Natural, Wetland and Agricultural Ecosystems", "Sustainable Management of Ecosystems" and "Environmental Protection" that is necessary for the graduate of the Postgraduate Program.</p><p>2. Agronomy: The objective of the thematic discipline is to provide high quality theoretical and applied knowledge in general topics of "Agronomy" that are directly related to Climate Change. The thematic discipline is also related to the acquisition of higher expertise in "Agronomy", "Plant Nutrition", "Bioeconomy" and "Cropping systems", that is necessary for the graduate of the Postgraduate Program.</p><p>3. Floriculture: The objective of the thematic discipline is to provide high quality theoretical and applied knowledge in general issues of "Floriculture-Gardening" that are directly related to Climate Change. The secondary (minor) thematic discipline is related to the acquisition of higher expertise in "Floriculture" and "Gardening" that is necessary for the graduate of the Postgraduate Program.</p><p>4. Viticulture: The objective of the thematic discipline is to provide high quality theoretical and applied knowledge in general issues of "Viticulture" that are directly related to Climate Change. The secondary (minor) thematic discipline is related to the acquisition of higher expertise in "Viticulture" and "Qualitative Analysis" of the produce, that is necessary for the graduate of the Postgraduate Program.</p><p>5. Pomology: The objective of the thematic discipline is to provide high quality theoretical and applied knowledge in general topics of "Pomology" that are directly related to Climate Change. The secondary (minor) thematic discipline is also related to the acquisition of higher expertise on "Pomology", "Post-harvest Physiology" and "Quality Analysis" of the produce. This knowledge is essential for the graduate of the Postgraduate Program.</p><p>6. Weed Science: The objective of the thematic discipline is to provide high quality theoretical and applied knowledge in</p><p>general issues of "Weed Science" that are directly related to Climate Change. The secondary (minor) thematic discipline is related to the acquisition of higher expertise in "Weed Science" and "Herbicide Phytotoxicity" that is necessary for the graduate in of the Postgraduate Program.</p><p>7. Vegetable Crops: The objective of the thematic discipline is to provide high quality theoretical and applied knowledge in general topics of "Vegetable Crops" that are directly related to Climate Change. The secondary (minor) thematic discipline is related to the acquisition of higher expertise in the subjects of "Vegetable Crops", "Post-harvest Physiology", "Plant Nutrition" and "Qualitative Analysis" of the produce. This knowledge is essential for the graduate of the Postgraduate Program.</p><p>8. Beekeeping: The objective of the thematic discipline is to provide high quality theoretical and applied knowledge in general issues of "Beekeeping" directly related to the implementation of Sustainable Management principles and the effects of Climate Change. The secondary (minor) thematic discipline is related to the acquisition of higher expertise on "Beekeeping" and "Qualitative Evaluation of Hive Products" that is necessary for the graduate of the Postgraduate Program.</p><p>9. Plant Physiology-Ecophysiology: The objective of the thematic discipline is to provide high quality theoretical and applied knowledge in general topics of "Plant Physiology-Ecophysiology", but also in modern subjects of Agricultural Science that are directly related to Climate Change and the adaptation of crops in abiotic and biotic stresses. The secondary (minor) thematic discipline is related to the acquisition of higher expertise in "Physiology-Ecophysiology" of plants that is necessary for the graduate of the Postgraduate Program.</p><p>10. Biometry-Data Analysis and Agricultural Experimentation: The objective of the thematic discipline is to provide high quality theoretical and applied knowledge in general as well as specific issues/topics of "Biometry-Data Analysis and Agricultural Experimentation", which support modern subjects of Agriculture directly related to Climate Change. The secondary (minor) thematic discipline focuses on the acquisition of higher theoretical expertise and digital skills in "Biometry-Data Analysis and Agricultural Experimentation" which are necessary for the graduate of the Postgraduate Program.</p>
