<p>In order to be accepted in the postgraduate program entitled "Social Psychology and Psychosocial Interventions" students must have been awarded a Bachelor΄s (ptychion) degree by a Greek public University and specifically from the following Departments: <b>a. </b>Psychology, <b>b. </b>Philosophy Education and Psychology, <b> c.</b> Philosophy and Social Studies of the University of Crete, <b>d. </b>Medicine Departments,<b> e.</b> Education or Social and Political Science Departments, <b> f.</b> Technological Educational Institutes with curriculum relevant to the above scientific fields and<b> g.</b> Departments of relevant scientific fields, in officially recognized foreign Institutions, provided that the equivalence of the degree to that of Greek university programs has been ascertained by the Hellenic National Academic Recognition Information Center (NARIC). </p>

<p>In order to obtain the Postgraduate (Master΄s) Degree of Specialization in Social Psychology and Psychosocial Interventions, students must complete successfully four semesters of study, which include 5 courses (of Background-General knowledge, specialization in a Scientific Field and Skills Development). They also have to successfully complete a thesis and 1200 hours of supervised practical training (Ministerial Decision no. 12663/13.01.2017, Hellenic Government Gazette no 93/23.01.2017 vol. 2). </p><p>During the first two semesters, students must regularly attend and successfully pass five (5) courses, amongst which three (3) core compulsory courses and two (2) compulsory elective courses. In the second semester students start their supervised practical training, which is completed in the fourth semester. 40 ECTS are allocated to the 1200 hours of practical training. In the third and fourth semester students also have to complete their thesis, to which 30 ECTS are allocated. The program is allocated a total of 120 ECTS. </p><p>The aims of the postgraduate program entitled "Social Psychology and Psychosocial Interventions" include: </p><p><b>a.</b> Specialized and in-depth training in social psychology and its applications in psychosocial issues, <b>b. </b>training in the design, implementation and evaluation of psychosocial interventions in institutions and organizations, <b>c. </b>training in scientific research techniques in the above disciplinary fields and preparation for doctoral studies, <b>d. </b>link between theory and practice in the educational process, in collaboration with social groups, organizations and other collective actors. </p><p>Therefore, upon their graduation the students are expected to: </p><p><b> a. </b>have theoretical knowledge and specialization in social psychological research and psychosocial interventions combining the theoretical and research principles of social and organizational psychology with action research principles and interventions, <b>b.</b> be able to generate new ideas, to formulate scientific/research questions to collect, analyze and generate research data by applying scientific methods and making use of new technologies, <b>c. </b>have critical and reflexivity skills, to efficiently wor autonomously but also in interdisciplinary groups to adapt to new professional environments and to engage in active decision-making, <b>d. </b>be competent in handling bibliographical and research data bases and in using (quantitative or qualitative) analysis software, e. have learned <b>(i)</b> to comply with ethical issues, to adhere to the professional and research ethics code and more generally to develop professional, social and ethical responsibility, <b>(ii) </b>to respect human diversity and multiculturalism and to offer high quality services to diverse groups of people. </p>

<p>Graduates of the Postgraduate (Masters) Programme of Specialization in Social Psychology and Psychosocial Interventions, School of Psychology at the A.U.T.H., whose undergraduate degree is in Psychology have already been granted a license to practice as professional psychologists prior to their admission to the postgraduate programme under the provisions of the Act 991/1979 (G.G. 278/ 20-12-1979/A) as amended by the provisions of the Act 2646/1998 (G.G. 236/20.10.1998/A). Graduates of the same postgraduate programme who hold an undergraduate degree different from Psychology are not granted a license to practice as professional psychologists. </p>

<p>The qualification is a terminal award and allows access to doctoral studies (PhD) </p>

<p>A scale of 1 to 10 applies to the marks of each subject in the Hellenic Higher Education. </p><p>Άριστα (Arista) Excellent from 8.50 to 10.00 </p><p>Λίαν Καλώς (Lian Kalos) Very Good from 6.50 to 8.49 </p><p>Καλώς (Kalos) Good from 6.00 to 6.49 </p><p>Ανεπιτυχώς (Anepitychos) Fail from 0.00 to 5.99 </p><p>Minimum passing grade according to the Schools Postgraduate Studies Regulations is 6.00. </p>

<p><b>4 SEMESTERS, 120 ECTS </b></p><p>A full academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS units and each semester to 30 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) (1 ECTS=25-30 hours). Compliance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) regulations started in 2007, when the Greek Legislation was harmonized with the relevant European one (Ministerial Decision no. Φ5/89656/Β3, art. 1-3 Hellenic Government Gazette no. 1466/2007/B). Each course is credited with a number of ECTS (>=2) according to the student΄s workload (contact hours, laboratory work, examination etc) and accumulation of credits (ECTS) is accoplished after successful completion of the course. </p>
