<p>In the postgraduate program entitled "Learning and Emotion in Younger and Older Adults" are accepted students who have been awarded a Bachelor΄s (ptychion) degree by a Greek public University and specifically from the following Departments: <b>a.</b>Psychology, <b>b.</b> Philosophy Education and Psychology, <b>c.</b> Education or Departments leading to teaching in secondary education, <b>d.</b> Medical and Nursing Departments, <b>e.</b> Technological Educational Instituteswith curriculum relevant to the above scientific fields and <b>f.</b> Departments in relevant scientific fields of officially recognized foreign Institutions under the condition that the equivalence of the degree to that of Greek university programs has been ascertained by the Hellenic National Academic Recognition Information Center (NARIC). </p>

<p>In order to obtain the Postgraduate (Master΄s) Degree of Specialization in Learning and Emotion in Young and Older Adults, students must complete successfully three semesters of study, which include 7 courses (Core Compulsory Courses and Compulsory courses belonging to the selected specialization) and completion of a thesis (Ministerial Decision no. 1096/16.09.2015, Hellenic Government Gazette no 2097/25.09.2015 vol. 2). In particular, during the three semesters, students must attend regularly and pass successfully seven courses and finish their thesis. The program is allocated a total of 90 ECTS (70 ECTS are allocated to courses and 20 ECTS are allocated to the Thesis).In the first two semesters students must attend regularly and pass successfully four (4) Core Compulsory courses and two (Compulsory courses belonging to the selected specialization, one of these must be a Statistical Methods course (ΕΦ-103 or ΕΦ-104). In the third semester students must attend and pass successfully one (1) more Compulsory course belonging to the selected specialization and finish successfully their thesis. </p><p>The aims of the Postgraduate (Master΄s) Degree of Specialization in Learning and Emotion in Young and Older Adults include: </p><p><b>1. </b>Offering specialized knowledge in the scientific field of Learning and Emotion and teaching students theoretical knowledge and skills that are necessary for the study of basic psychological functions that are involved in learning, such as memory, thought, and emotion, the biological basis of these processes and the various factors that affect them in laboratory and applied level. <b>2.</b> Training students in the relevant scientific research methods, in order to study in depth the above processes <b>3.</b> Training students in the psychological assessment tools for cognitive and emotional processes. <b>4.</b> Familiarize students with cognitive and emotional interventions in specific populations, such as older adults. <b>5.</b> Writing a Master Thesis. </p><p>Therefore, upon their graduation the students are expected to <b>A. </b>have a broad perspective regarding the study, the assessment and the training of cognitive and emotional functions, in order to design intervention programmesto enhance these functions inyoung and older adults, <b>B. </b>be able to generate new ideas, to develop and formulate scientific and research questions to search, analyze and synthesize the extant research data to do the latter via a scientific approach and new technologies, <b>C. </b>be able to take a critical approach to their work when that is necessary be trained to work efficiently both when working as individuals, as well as when members of collaborative groups have learned how to adapt to new professional environments and how to engage in active decision-making<b>, D. </b>be competent in handling bibliographical and research data bases, software for statistical analyses, educational learning environments and in communicating in English, <b>E. </b>have learned (i) to comply with ethical issues, to adhere to the professional and research ethics code and more generally to develop professional, social and ethical responsibility, (ii) to respect human diversity and multiculturalism and to offer high quality services to diverse groups of people. </p>

<p>Graduates of the Postgraduate (Masters) Programme of Specialization in Learning and Emotion in Young and Older Adults, School of Psychology at the A.U.T.H., whose undergraduate degree is in Psychology have already been granted a license to practice as professional psychologists prior to their admission to the postgraduate programme under the provisions of the Act 991/1979 (G.G. 278/ 20-12-1979/A) as amended by the provisions of the Act 2646/1998 (G.G. 236/20.10.1998/A). Graduates of the same postgraduate programme who hold an undergraduate degree different from Psychology are not granted a license to practice as professional psychologists. </p>

<p>The qualification is a terminal award and allows access to Doctoral Studies (PhD) </p>

<p>A scale of 1 to 10 applies to the marks of each subject in the Hellenic Higher Education. </p><p>Άριστα (Arista) Excellent from 8.50 to 10.00 </p><p>Λίαν Καλώς (Lian Kalos) Very Good from 6.50 to 8.49 </p><p>Καλώς (Kalos) Good from 6.00 to 6.49 </p><p>Ανεπιτυχώς (Anepitychos) Fail from 0.00 to 5.99 </p><p>Minimum passing grade according to the Schools Postgraduate Studies Regulations is 6.00. </p>

<p><b>3 SEMESTERS, 90 ECTS</b> </p><p>A full academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS units and each semester to 30 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) (1 ECTS=25-30 hours). Compliance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) regulations started in 2007, when the Greek Legislation was harmonized with the relevant European one (Ministerial Decision no. Φ5/89656/Β3, art. 1-3 Hellenic Government Gazette no. 1466/2007/B). Each course is credited with a number of ECTS (>=2) according to the student΄s workload (contact hours, laboratory work, examination etc) and accumulation of credits (ECTS) is accoplished after successful completion of the course. </p>
