Course Content (Syllabus)
To provide theoretical knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, Etiology, Pathogenesis, Epidemiology and Classification of periodontal diseases. After completing the 6th semester, the student shall have the theoretical knowledge to proceed to seminars and clinical practice concerning pathology and treatment of periodontal diseases. Clinical practice includes: 1. training on obtaining dental and medical history of the patient and calculus removal 2. treatment of two chronic gingivitis cases The clinical practice during the 6th semester aims to develop students dexterities concerning the full patient’s clinical examination, diagnosis and treatment of gingivitis. After completing the 6th semester the student shall be able to differentiate between physiological and pathological conditions, to properly use hand instruments for calculus removal and root planning and to conduct treatment plan for gingivitis cases. Further, he/she is trained to patient’s motivation and instruction for proper oral hygiene control and cooperation.
